Stopping. It's one of the most important things you can do on a bike. In prepping the 2005 Honda CBR600RR for the race season, I needed to upgrade the stock lines to a stainless steel variety, and in looking at what was available, I opted for the Galfer Superbike lines from Shane at Revlimiter Racing.

I was pretty excited about these lines as they are a direct-connect line and do not use banjo bolts at the calipers. What's the difference you ask? Well, when the fluid goes through a banjo bolt, it is redirected and a significant amount of flow/energy is lost. This results in the need to pull the lever harder to get a harder bite at the brakes. This isn't really a big deal, but when you're braking to the point of coming home with blisters on your hands every weekend, it means a LOT.

The direct-connect line of the Galfer Superbike lines restricts NOTHING. It's just full flow from the master cylinder to the calipers, and THAT is something worth getting.

Before we begin, I have to mention that Galfer did not have a designated part yet for the 05 CBR600RR, so I ordered the CBR1000RR lines and hoped for the best. This turned out for MY application (please read on as your application may be different) much better than anticipated.

I got the package from Revlimiter Racing in about a week, and the parts are pretty simple.

A pair of lines, a couple of connectors and a THOROUGH instruction packet.

My comments on the lines/kit:

So, I wasn't sure how the lines connected, but it all came to light as I looked over the pieces. Here's a few pics and my installation:

Pics of the line mid mounting point and the caliper connections:

Start with pulling off the old brake lines:

Mount a crush washer and the brake line "receiver" torque down

Mount the line to the "receiver". This I couldn't torque, so I used the great German value of "goodentight"

I actually drilled out the line coupler and safety wired it. I would CAUTION YOU ON THIS though, as these couplers are BRASS, and a drill bit will go through them VERY EASILY and you could damage your line. Again, this was my doing, against the manufacturer's instructions.

Now, when I mounted up the lines to my brembo master cylinder, I realized how PERFECT this application was. See, the brembo master cylinder outlet is at the BOTTOM of the master cylinder, facing DOWN (whereas the OEM nissin master cylinder for the cbr600rr faces forward). Coincidentally, the CBR1000RR has a radial master cylinder which has the outlet on the bottom as well, so it lined up exactly as it should have! This was an added bonus if you will, and very welcome. I suppose they would have worked fine with the OEM master cylinder, but they fit PERFECTLY with the brembo.

I bled my brakes and made sure there were no leaks and all was good. I haven't tried them out yet, but they do seem to have a fantastic bite to them with very little effort. I really look forward to getting on the track with these.

Visit www.revlimiterracing.com and talk to Shane about getting yourself a set of these Superbike lines. If you're interested in picking up a Brembo Radial Master Cylinder, Shane has them as well, or you can pick yours up through Fred Renz at www.yoyodyneti.com which is where I got mine when I ordered some other stuff last year.
