I had a rattle on my RR and when I took it to the dealer they found out that it was a spun bearing in the motor. It took about 2 weeks but now I am getting a new motor. Take it to the dealer. It shouldnt be the cam chain because Honda redesigned it this year.

if it is the CCT Replace it with a manual one and allways use the same mechanic.

Hope it isn't the CCT.
cant believe that Honda cant design something that simple to last ???

hehe I remember me old CX500 circa 1978 honda recalls, mods and still ctt's let go in there thousands.

I concur with cbr600rcr. I get a rattle low down at 3-4000 revs. I reckon its the classic Honda cct noise amplified cos this bike has two tensioners

I've been hearing people having problems with the cam chain tensioner on other boards. I hope that it isn't a problem on our bike! If so I'll be pissed. And after drying up I'll have to get a manual tensioner.

What amazes me is the fact that you guys can hear all this with the wind noise, engine noise, braking noise, and etc.

I can't even hear anything except the engine noise.

it's the washer inside the right bar end. i've tried silicone on it and it will be quiet for a while but it keeps coming back.  i'll try replacing it with a plastic washer instead.

Dunno if ya'll tried this but the vibe I'm getting ...er was ... was comming from my psuedo gas tank cover...I placed my hand on it as I rode and the noise went away.. Later on I took the cover off and put a bit of 3m felt tape in some key areas of the cover and away went the vibration...I use this trick at wwork on cars that have a vibrations dash problem...

Thank goodness I have finally gotten to the point where this shit has quit bothering me.  Its a harmless little noise.  If its the tank cover, a piece of neoprene will do the trick.  If its the bar end a drop of silicone will do the trick.  If you quit worry about harmless little noises, that will do the trick.  Just ride and smile. 8)

I work at a dealership here in Jersey, and from all the hondas i have ever had new or used, i would bet a hundred dollars that it is the cam chain tensioner. Honda has always had the 5grand rattle i like to call it . It is na big deal.

Its not the cam chain tensioner!  I have the same thing on my bike and when I took it to the dealership they thought that it was the cct so they replaced it.  I still have the same noise coming from the bike in the same place as before.  I have not had the time to take it back in to the shop.

Oh yea cbr600rcr you owe me a hundred dollars biotch!!! I expect full payment within 7 working days.  thank for your contribution to the firephil go to college fund! :-[

hey, thanks, fellas. i siliconed the washer in the right bar-end and now i can't tell what rpm's i'm at without looking down. apparently, i unconsciously gauged my rpm's by that jingle... now, i'll be speeding and not know it...

j/k

thanks for the tip, y'all...

Rattle / buzz update... As some may remember, my new 05 suffered from the infamous 5K Buzz as well, and I'm happy to say that it has gone away... I've got 2400 miles on the new bike and I have not noticed it for some time...

I'm just wondering if I don't notice it because now I'm generally riding at 7 - 9K RPMs, meaning that I'm usually exellerating past the 5K range pertty quickly...
