Hard to tell in that pic, but they're about .080" thick, and weigh about nothing, haha. I need to test them out before the trackday this weekend though, to make sure they handle the heat.

As long as you use a decent resin they'll be fine.

As long as you use a decent resin they'll be fine.

The plates are 8 plies of pre-preg carbon, so I didn't get to choose the resin for the layup. The glass transition temp of the resin in the plies is 264F, so I'm thinking that so long as I don't exceed that, I should be ok. Heck, even if they do fail, it is a cool thing to experiment with, considering this material was destined for the trash anyways.

Hondabond is only good to 300F anyways, and has always been fine for PAIR plates, so I know it's not exceeding that temp. I have no idea why the valve cover would ever get to more than 200F in the first place...

Made more things before the trackday...

With a Tg of 264 you'll be fine.

In the chaos of it all, I completely forgot to check them after the first session...all seemed fine all day, so hopefully they're ok, haha!

I'd think poorly of your OCD except that it drives you to do exceptional things. Can't help but love it!

LMAO, thanks man! Check this out though...When I cut out these plates, I didn't make sure the weave lined up the same way on both of them...And I didn't start over when I realized it! I'm making progress! hahaha
