50 Degree VT days = Wash days!
« on: March 20, 2014, 03:48:54 PM »
Like the title says, had a few 50 degree days so the bike got it's first bath by my hands!

They'll clean up on the first ride, it's just been sitting since January when it was transported and wasn't able to be cleaned due to how cold it was here.

As of right now, the residential roads are covered in snow and ice, but the main roads are clear. It's currently -14C and isn't going to warm up for the next week. This has been the coldest march in 6 years. Usually I'm on the road by now instead of having only a couple rides in. You never know around here though. 4 seasons in a day in this town. Yesterday was the same temp but the sun came out in the afternoon and it warmed up quite a bit. Just have to play the waiting game at this point.

I'm in Calgary, Alberta. The mountains pretty much make any weather pattern a guessing game. It's really strange here, for example, today it was -10C but the snow was melting because the sun is so hot. So the air is -10 but whatever the sun hits, it warms up. Makes the roads turn to ice at night. The conditions here are so fucked.

Damn, I'm glad I don't complain about having to live in Vermont, you've got it much harder, but as it is I love Vermont.

I may complain, but it's only because the transitions into and out of winter take months. It just ends up pissing everyone off here because they would much prefer to get more sunshine. It's just the way it is here next to the mountains. Although I do have to say, when the weather turns full on summer, it's fucking glorious here. For the three months of dead summer a year, it's a really good three months. I think that's why everyone gets so upset about the weather, we all know what it can be like here when things go right. This year I think there's going to be deeper trips into the mountains, I'm also going to try and find some cool places and shoot some video, basically just spend a couple days wasting money and fucking around. That is of course, if the new seat works...

I really want to do some setups this year with my car and bike where I put my gopro in some trees overhanging roads to get cool overhead approach and away shots

That would be really cool, great idea! I'll have to see the roads where I'm headed first, I'm not if there will be any perches on rock faces. I'm looking forward to using the remote so I can switch on the camera at will, shut it off when I don't need it. And I need to figure out a forward facing mount, the side mount just cuts too much out of the picture.

I've got the official Gopro suction mount and it's supposed to be good for speeds up to 150 mph, it works great on my car, but I'm not sure how well it'll work on the plastic of the bike.  I'll be tethering it no matter what that's for sure lol.

Went with my buddy today so he could pick up a bike and we decided to store it with mine. He picked up a 2006 Ninja 636, so I had to get a picture of the two together...
