Switching to 20w50...
« on: April 19, 2009, 02:33:33 PM »
Well, i think i'm going to switch to 20w50 from a 10w40. has anyone noticed a smoother throttle vibration? the 10w40 it's been quite harsh, and even more so this past wednesday's trackday. it was on sale so i though why not.

???

personally i wouldnt use it myself, cause MOM does'nt approve, or include at least.
Might be a bit slow moving on cool or cold startups.

I use it in my s10 to increase the oil pressure. I know , its got problems

well, the MOM wasn't really intended to be used by racers or trackday goers either.

any racers using 20w50?

i have used repsol 15w-50 full syn since the 600 mile break in and have had no problems with cold start or anything like that. use it all the time for trackdays. its really good stuff IMO only downside is the 12 bucks a quart cost and i change it before and after trackdays just to be safe.

I've used 20w50 before and I think it works just fine. As long as you let it warm up, I don't think you'll have a problem. With higher temperatures at the track, I think that it would help.

if you are going to use it for the track it should do good. the 20w50 will stay ticker at the high temps. just make sure you change oil after every race (if its not for riding just on the track)
