08 600RR insurance
« on: April 26, 2008, 10:55:58 PM »
Hey guys, I'm 23, know how to ride, and I am going to buy a new bike.  I have ridden for a while, but I've always used friends' bikes.  I want to buy a new 600RR, but I'm getting insane insurance quotes.  I was quoted about $1800 (Progressive) per year including minimal collision, comprehensive, etc.  Why is it that I hear about people getting insurance for less than $1000 per year so often?  What does everyone pay?  Also, are 1000s cheaper to insure?  I'd be willing to get one, although I'd have to adjust to riding one.  Thanks guys!

Dude, 1800 a year for collision and comp?  You're on a fcukin dreamboat dude!  Gat the HRCA discount on top of that rate and you'll be set!  I was quoted at 5k a year for full coverage, and 4k for what you got.  I currently only carry PLPD and comp, and that's still 135 a month!  I'm a bit younger than you, yeah, but I'd be stoked if I were you!   ;D

I was quoted 3800-4300, back in 05. I therefore went with liablity only which is around 30 per month.  You want cheap insurance buy a ninja 250 or a cruiser.

Yes a 1K will be more.

Oh, wait 08 has been a close call.

My route home is country back roads, 80-85 all the way home with no problems ever.   Going home a few weeks ago an on coming car flashed their lights, so I ease off the gas to the speed limit. After several miles I give up and start to roll back on it, coming up a small hill on a curve l am about 80 and there he is, I hit the brakes and drop to about 70 in a 65 as I pass he puts his hand out and shakes his finger at me, as if to say, "I got you but gonna let you slide."

20 years old, 1200/yr full coverage, no tickets

When I was 18 with a new bike, I paid $960/yr full coverage. I've never gotten any sort of ticket or made a claim, but this year my insurance was 're-adjusted' so I have to pay more, even though I have never had a problem.  :fu: squids.

I'm 20 and paying $866 a year for full coverage. This is $200 less than when I started riding 2 years ago on my F4i. Got a ticket on my RR last year and my insurance actually went down from $960.

I just got a 2004 600RR, and insurance is only like 156 bucks a year for liability.  I am 25 and married though.

What companies does everyone use to insure their bikes?  I was using the Progressive online quoting system.  Does anyone know the reason that riders younger than myself have much cheaper insurance rates (see previous posts) than the one I was quoted?  Insurance companies suck!  Thanks for everyone's help on the matter.
