My tarp runied my tank cover
« on: November 13, 2007, 08:03:05 PM »
I towed my bike and hard a tarp over it, and not even think the rubbing from the wind, made my tank below the gas cap looks like shit, is there any kind of was i can use to get rid of the scuffs from the tarp.
Thanks

Did you try a polishing compound. Like Nufinish. Any polisher for paint should get that out unless you went really deep into the clear cote

try it by hand first. I never used a machine buffer, I have been told that it can wear your paint down too fast.

You can get that at any automotive part store in the detailing aisle. You should be able to just get it out with a towel. Read the instructions properly and use the recommanded towel type.

you can also wet sand it and then use 3m compound to get it nice and looking good again...

How bad is the scuff?
If you run your fingernal over it and your fingernail has a place to get stuck, then rubbing isnt going to get rid of it.
If you do wet sand it use a very light grit like 2000.Good luck!

if you are calling a buffer a 'thingy' then i would stay away from one.
