Awesome report!

I really enjoy reading this stuff and I feel like I'm learning a bunch about what it's like to race...not just the actual racing, but all the other stuff...getting stuck in the mud, making a last-minute mod to the bike to get it back out on the track, etc.

Good stuff!

Too bad you don't ever get out here to the Western tracks...I'd love to show up and check things out.

Maybe I missed it in an earlier post, but what exactly did the guys at MDRacing do to your motor?

If you love your motorcycle, set it free.  If it comes back, you've probably highsided.

Supersport rebuild.  Not even a "FULL" supersport motor.  We were just going to do the top end, but looking at the cylinders, they were pretty scored so he re-honed the bottom end and then did head work (milled the head, degreed the cams, valve job).  She's putting out a LOT of power...

Cool.

Any idea what that sort of job would cost an average Joe like me?

It really depends...

If you are JUST looking at head work, and you take the motor out and reinstall it, you'll be under $1k.

If you need top and bottom work, you'll be at about $1500 or so in labor and then parts.  My parts were almost $700 retail (like $350 cost).  Again, this assumes you will remove and reinstall the motor.

If the shop is removing/installing the motor, add $300-$500 for the labor.

Cool, thanks.

I don't need anything right now, and I'm just doing trackdays anyway, so it doesn't really matter if I don't have the fastest 600 in the paddock...I was mostly just curious.
