The bike sure looks like an '04 to me.  Look at the seat unit.  Either way that sucks, I haven't seen a bike that badly damaged at the track for a while.

the pics with him standing on the bike in the crash truck are the BEST.

When you can laugh at your 2005, $25k bike laying dead in the crash truck, you're a real racer...
Jesus would have seen my blinker and let me in you dick!

OMG LOL GIXXERS R THE SUXORZ!!!111oneoneeleven

Jesus, one report on an (allegedly) bad frame weld and everyone is already insinuating Suzuki sucks.  I've seen several different bikes, including a Kawasaki (a ZX7 at a salvage yard), a Yamaha (an older FZR that a friend owned), and yes, even a beloved Honda 954 at my local repair shop with frame weld issues.

If you look close at the pics you can see that the welds would have filled in all the area that they should. They might have even looked quite good to the naked eye. You can see the pattern of the weld bead where the fracture msut have started. The way the weld bead seems to have changed very little, I would say that it had little/no penetration into the adjoining piece. It's not an easy thing to pick up on when two parts are welded together.

If it is what I think it is, there might not have been any way for anyone to know after the weldment had been made.

That sucks. And yes, it could happen to a Honda too. All it would take is a careless fabricator or an incorrectly set robot.
