Title: Hi
Post by: DSR on February 22, 2005, 05:44:21 PM
Hi Folks,

My friend phil314 turned me onto your sight. I've been lurking for a little bit. I currently do not have a road bike now (needed money  :'( )but I have reserved a spot in my garage for when I do get one. I've been riding for 25 years, I also raced with phil314 at Brainerd, did a couple of Reg Pridmore classes at Road America, been to Deals Gap many times, and taken many a road trip too.

I'll be blunt, I'm not too keen on street stunting, those who expect to get an R1 for their first bike and don't wear protective gear. Especially helmets, I owe my life to a helmet. I ended up donating that helmet to a drivers ed school here in the Twin Cities.

To give you a little history about my road riding, my first road bike was a 1985 Yamaha FJ600 slug! Then a Hurricane 600, a V65 Magna, a few F2's, (Had three of them) an R6, then my last one was an F3.

I hope to be around, this is a fun site.  :thumb:

See...That's what I'm talking about. :P 35 is considered "old" in the sportbike forums. ??? I'm 35 but I don't feel, look or act like it. To me it's just a number.

But you and I both know that the .net forum is full of 20 somethings that consider us "old". There seems to be alot more "old farts" over here. That's one thing I like about this forum. That and you don't have to worry about hurting someones "feelings". You can say pretty much what's on your mind without being handslapped or the thread being locked.

Sorry Racer, I'm 37. Yes, I am considered "old" I guess. Ready for the retirement home by racing standards.  :'(

Anyway, my plan is to get either a 05 or 06 CBR 600RR.  :thumb: Right now I'm back in school and it's an expense I choose to live without at the moment. Maybe some day I'll fill ya in on my sob story.

Guess I won't be going to .net. I want to talk bikes with people who are more interested in corner carving and "real" racing rather than how much chrome they can put on thier bikes so they look good outside Starbucks.  8)  I ride with a bunch of guys that ride bone stock bikes with the exception of suspension upgrades and holy crap they are fast.

I'm going through withdrawals. Can't wait for this weekend. WSBK. Oh yeah!

Don't get me wrong. There are alot of good people over at .net. But yeah, there's alot more (http://img93.exs.cx/img93/3309/squid.gif) over there too. You just have to filter them out. :P

Phil! What do you mean you've never seen me before? I was with you when you talked that guy out of buying a bike. You said anything with over 20,000 miles was no good. Which was hilarious by the way.  :P  Coming from a guy who has over 100,000 on his own bike.

It's not that I don't like talking to squids, I've had some of the most entertaining conversations with some of them. I'm talking riding with them can be dangerous at times.

You must have me confused with someone else.
I don't own a bike. I just like to hang out here and pretend I know how to ride.

ok Crash, I got no beef with anyone here. I'm just a guy with a passion for bikes.

For the record, I tried to initiate the topic by saying hello and relating some sort of motorcycle experience as opposed to shooting the bull. As I understood it, Shooting the Bull was anything non bike related. So, with that said, I was probably wrong to begin this post here.

No biggie. If fret wants to move it I'm ok with that.
