Title: fuel pump
Post by: jag75 on December 12, 2015, 01:14:27 PM
Ok guys got a head scratcher for ya. Was working on a rc51 cuz it was cutting out. While taking off plastics and tank to check fuel pump we noticed the regulator / rectifier plug was melted . Wires were crisp was amazed that it even ran at all. Got a new set up now bike won't start. It gets fire but fuel pump wont prime. Took the pump out and connected directly to the battery and it worked . Plug it back in and nothing. The plug that the pump plugs into has 3 legs . The middle leg is the only one that reads hot. However it's the leg that goes to the pump resistor. We've swapped relays and no change . Bas  / kickstand switch are good . Any ideas??

Ok a little update. Think maybe a ground issue . We bypassed the relay but the pump wont stop priming. Thinking we need to trace the wires to see if that's the problem.

We think prob is wire harness . There's gotta be a wire grounded so think the easiest thing is a new wire harness . Less headache then cutting open and try to find the bad wire.
