Yeah right, when I low-side, I just hang on as tight as I can, and I dig my knee into the ground and push my bike back onto it's wheels before I hit the gravel, and then just ride around for a few more laps.....................

In my two low sides, both of them were kind of like "oh shit....................actually...this is kind of fun....oh shit,  gravel..."

Sliding isn't so bad, actually kind of fun when you think back on it.  But when you hit the gravel is when your shit gets tossed (unless you're hi-siding)

well i know it is being asked what to do if you are already in a crash and sliding, flying, cartwheeling down the road etc. however i think it is just as important to learn how to avoid crashing in certain instances. i only ride canyons mainly because i'm new to the street coming off of dirtbikes and we are now into the winter season. i must say that the dirt experience has helped me adapt quite easily. i like to ride fast, however in the beginning when following old timers, they whent around a corner fast and i whent straight not making the corner. this is what it took for me to learn, some near misses and of course crashing. automatically i think a person will either get off the gass, or raise body position in a turn. what i was tought is that the bike can do it, and it can, such an amazing machine. it is better to stay on the gas to keep even your suspension and not load the front end especially under braking in a corner. it would be better in chances say 50/50 to lean further to make it around the turn successfully, thus if you do crash it will be a lowside which isn't bad considering you are already next to the pavement, that is if you don't hit something stationary. if you hiside or go along for the ride by getting up out of fear you are going along for the ride which is much more dangerous

One thing they mentioned over and over at the Penguin school at Loudon was after you crash and stop sliding, stay low till the coast is clear. That way if you were to get hit from whoever might be behind you, their bike will run over you instead of thru you.
