There's really nothing you can do after the fact. My last three crashes went like this:

1. Hi-sided at about 100mph+, I felt the back end step out hard, I try to countersteer a little. Instantly I was flying through the air upside down and the bike was gone. Then there was a strange grinding noise and I skided along on my head. Didn't even have time to think about what to do, nevermind any time to do it.

2. Low-sided at about 80mph, Gently squeeze the front brake and wham, my head hits the ground. I'm thinking WFT, I can't be on the ground. I look skyward cause I'm on my back by now. 'Damn those trees are going by really fast'. I wonder where I'm heading so I kind of roll over on my side while sliding. 'Oh, shit gravel trap'. I then do about 3 cartwheels and finally stop. The whole time I was just along for the ride.

3. I get rear-ended at about 50mph and instantly I'm sliding down the pavement. Then I get steamrolled any another bike. Felt like being in a washing machine full with a dozen shotputs. I stop sliding, my foot feels like it's been ripped off, my arm felt like it was snapped in half. All I could do was lay there waiting for help.

my 2 crashes from this past season went like this.

1) loside at about 90mph....had some front brake and was turning it in when the front just went. i think i hit a patch on the track where it is slicker than the rest of the track, but i dunno. next thing i know im sliding along through the grass and im thinking, fuck. then i slide over a bump and my head hits the ground as a result and then my thoughts arent so clear.

2) hiside at 110....goin into a corner off a straight, downshift and the fucker didnt stay in gear, popped a false neutral and then back into a gear quicker than you know what. as a result the abck end locked up and started hopping, 2 hops and it grabbed, went to the side, came back adn threw me off. next thing i know im looking down at my gas tank which is eve with my feet thinking this is gonna hurt a lot. next memory is being on my feet walking towards one of the pieces of my bike.

so as for crashing...my advice is similar to jeffs, relax and dont try to move. thinking oh shit this is gonna hurt a lot helps in my case. other than that, just remember thats why you paid $500 for your helmet and who knows for your suit, boots, gloves etc.....that why you buy good gear.

A good quote of mine this last year was "I was in the air, all crossed up and thought...  'shit, this is gonna hurt'.  I wasn't disappointed"

Jesus would have seen my blinker and let me in you dick!

All I'm thinkin is "damn, and thats new paint"...

And pretty much all of the responses confirmed what I said... I could tell you everything about each of my 15 get-offs and it doesn't do you any good when you come off yourself, and each and every one is a new and exciting experience. Just enjoy 'cuz you're just along for the ride anyways.  ;D
I'm not a real asshole, but I do play one on the internet...

It's amazing I'm thinking about stuff like that, and not if I'm gonna get hurt or so. dunno why i do that  ???

The first thing most people ask after crashing is...  "Is my bike ok?"

The Hell with our bodies, how's the bike!

My first nasty street crash I had the same thought (when I regained consciousness) and ran over to flip my bike over and blood squirted out of my open, comminuted elbow fracture...I quickly forgot about my bike...

I don't know all the medical terms but "cominuted elbow fracture" sounds bad.  Blood squirting out, huh?  I got a real bad/deep cut on my forearm long time ago when i was skating.  I could almost "see" my heart beat by looking at the blood gushing out from the wound...  That was cool and it sucked at the same time.

I know the feeling, I was playing with the bone fragments that were falling out during my ambulance ride.

Comminuted means "shattered"

I was knocked out and woke up to that same strange grinding noise and it was pitch black outside. All I could think about as I was sliding down the road was "God don't let me hit a tree or a sign". Whew! Thanks Lord! Now where in the hell is my the bike! Damnit!! Look at this twisted shit! Went to pick it up and Ooops! There went my shoulder back into place. Good thing I wasn't feeling that! :P

All I have to say is if you run across an animal such as a deer, STOP! Don't be a smuck and think.."Oh I can just move over a little in case they run". You can't imagine how fast a deer can move from standing still. Just fucking stop. I won't make that mistake again!

this is the dumbest shit I have every heard.     When I crash I just jump off, and roll over on my back and slide to a complete stop.  then I get up and tell them not to send the ambulance because I was instructed on how to crash 8) 8)
