Rattle at 5-6000 rpm???

Hey,

Just got a RR and noticed at rattle around 5-6k.  Anyone have a similar problem?  Curious if it's a common thing or a problem with my bike in particular.

If it's not your keychain, you should probobly take it to the dealer. I haven't noticed anything

Same for me, it's like a smooth rattle around 4,500-6,000 rpm. Will get it checked up at 1000km service.
I believe Snow has the same problem too. You can check out posts in Wrenching under gingle bells.

I had a rattle in mine when I got it too.  Try standing on the throttle side of your bike, and with the palm of your hand, give a good firm tap on the clip-on.  In my case I took off my bar end weight and there was an extra washer in there that was shaking around.  Simple fix, ao I hope your's is just as easy to find.

It's not an "extra" washer. It's meant to be there, and Ryan, yes, you had a rattle.  Took me about an hour to find it.  It was that same damned washer.  A drop of silicone on it will stick it to the bar end weight and prevent the rattle  

And a few points of clarification, the rattle I heard on Ryan's was due to the right hand side clip-on, and BE CAREFUL! The screw that holds it in has Honda's GREEN/permanent lock-tite on it, and the screw is a #1, not #2.  If you use a #2 phillips, you will likely strip it since it requires a LOT of force to get out...

I work at a dealership here in Jersey, and from all the hondas i have ever had new or used, i would bet a hundred dollars that it is the cam chain tensioner. Honda has always had the 5grand rattle i like to call it . It is na big deal.

Yup, same problem with my bike.  I've started to ignore it and accept it though.  Although if its just a bar end plug washer, that seems like a quick easy fix.  I'll probably give that a shot.

I have the same problem I  think.  I was taping the handle bar all the way to the left and I heard the washer rattling in the right bar end.  Do you have put lock tite on the screw after you take it off and put it back on?  I don't want the bar end coming off while I am riding.

is it a bell sound or a rattle?  if you hear a rattle it what they said before the cam-chain tensioner.  my 1987 hurricane even does it....if its that gingle...it the right bar end

I think my bike just got this "infamous" rattle ... very noticable when decelerating, slightly when accelerating, always during 4500-6000 rpm.  Any ideas?!

if its the same rattle my rr has (which is the same as my f4i had) its coming from the cams or timing chain, honda has had trouble with this for a long time, my f4i got so bad by 10,000 miles that it sounded like it was going to come apart at any time, I was told the problem was resolved for the rr but...

its most bikes i had to replace it 2wice on my 00 gixxer 600

maybe its just your keys

if it is the CCT Replace it with a manual one and allways use the same mechanic.

Hope it isn't the CCT.
cant believe that Honda cant design something that simple to last

I get a noticable humming sound around those rpm range but it disappears when I get above 7k rpm.  Should I be worried because this is my first sportbike and I don't know nothing about nothing. ;)
