GP is supposedly better for racing because instead of upshifting by going up you just click down. I think, Jeff and Shane correct me if I'm wrong, that if you can upshift by clicking down that helps you when you shift after you apex a corner. It kinda makes sense but you downshift as much as you upshift anyway.

one track, three left handers where shifting is necessary.  Fontana, only one of two tracks i've been on, BUT, i wish for gp shifting in all 3 corners.  so i didn't have to wince every time i put my toes below the shifter.

You have much more force available by pushing DOWN than pulling UP.  It is just more natural to push down while accellarating and pull up while braking.

Plus, in corners, sometimes you'll have to upshift (change into a higher gear) and it's easier to do without getting your toe under the lever.

You know what I have Oxtar racing boots and they don't like to upshift that much!! Everytime we go riding hard and I wear them my damn ankles are sore that night. Jeff any tricks to help with that, besides GP shifting?

sounds like to me need to adjust the shift lever, it's easy to do, if you already have done this, or know how to, just smile and nod.

at either end of the shift rod, between the lever and the shaft into the shift drum, there are two bolts.  One goes lefty loosy, the other goes righty loosy, check the threads before wrenching.  and it's a 10mm bolt.  Loosen both bolts enough to make adjustments.  Now twist the shift rod in either direction to make the shift lever be comfy.  Some people might say make it touch your boot top, others may say leave some space.  Make adjustments, ride the bike a day or two, and make adjustments as neccessary from there.  it may take a few days and wrenches to get it where you like it.

like i said if you already know this, then thanks for listening.

My shift lever is fine when I'm wearing Timb's or tennis shoes. Only when I wear my racing boots do I have a problem. Maybe I'll have to adjust it depending on whether or not I'm wearing my racing boots.
