You do realize oil not only breaks down due to mileage, but time as well. The detergents loose their effectiveness and condensation puts water into the oil thusly breaking it down further. I wouldn't run oil any longer than 6 months MAX, despite miles, and not run more than 4k on a synthetic, and less on conventional oils. That's a good recipe for burning up rings and bearings.
My owners manual says oil change every 12,500Km, I do that roughly in a season. So once a year according to Honda.
