we talked about switching to GP shift for my CBR, but considering how much I ride (well, how much I usually ride.... this season has been a waste) on the street with regular shifting... we didn't want to chance having those 'wait, wtf am I doing' moments on the track.

I run standard shift.  I've tried the reverse shift multiple times over the years and just could never get my head around it.

I went out on the 500 with standard shift, you talk about having a lot of whoa moments.

I prefer GP shift myself because it's easier on the starts and that's what I'm just used to now.

yess'm.
it's easier to pivot your foot when the peg is on the ball.
howevs, your outside foot in a corner can be more into the arch as to kinda 'stomp' the peg down to weight it when trying to stand it back up.

I don't have a street bike, but if I did I would run it GP shift as well. It's really not that bad once you get used to it. I won't switch back unless there's no possible way to make it GP pattern.

I'm to scared of up shifting when I mean to downshift. Not so much a problem on the street, but if I get it wrong on the track... yikes. I think an upshift at 15.5k RPM could be bad.
