a long time ago (1992) I rolled a brand new Nighthawk 750 off the showroom floor and a friend of mine made a snide remark about never getting the front up due to lack of power and forward engine position,,,,, with less than 40 miles on it I did a half mile wheelie,
the best thing you can do is gear up and find that long empty parking lot or suitable area and go practice........ the clutch is a funny thing,,, start with low RPMs and see how it reacts. my rr is a 2006 and the only mods I have are a fender eliminator and slip on, gearing is stock. I do 1st and 2cnd gear wheelies without a problem and I am a fatty (5' 8" 235 LBS) clutching it up allows for low rpm starts and more speed control, when you roll it on you are forced to go fast, FAST.....
both can lead to trouble if you bite off too much too fast. take your time.... also droping the air in the rear tire is a good Idea nothing extreem but it does make the wheelie more stable 22lbs is a good pressure because you can make the adjustment, practice a bit, and still ride with the boys without having to stop and refill it.
I dont suggest going alone just in case you do make a mistake, but having a bunch of people arround you when working the bugs out is not a good Idea either, you dont want too much influence by the crowd...
Good Luck and be safe...
