So you guys out there that race the newer models must have the same issue. Not enough clearance with the front brake lever when turning the bars with aftermarket clip ons.
So.. Last year tried out some Vortex. Wasn't comfortable with the clearance. Bought some Woodcraft riser clip ons. A little better. Recentley cut almost the whole right side of the fairing stay off and blocked any holes. I can turn the bars to full lock without hitting. But.. I like to run my bars out pretty far and they're in a little more than I like. I also put the kill switch inside of the master cyclinder and lever to try and get a little more room.
My main concern was if I ever happened to get into a tank slapper the lever would hit and lock up the front brake. I've actually done it once with this bike with a damper on but luckily still had oem bars on.
So me and another Honda rider from Canada, he's a super fast guy. Taught me a lot. Anyways he was working with a machinist who does a lot of stuff for the racers on the east coast of Canada and some of the factory teams as well. Really knowlegable with bikes. To the point.. he made a lot of stuff for the current Honda's. Including a nice aluminum ram air/fairing stay that has more clearance with drilled and tapped holes for the BAS etc. Believe me I'm not doing an advertisement for this guy just thought I would pass on a good machinist that knows Honda's well.
http://www.madfab.ca/ One question for anyone who has put some steering stops on their bike. What do you put on there. I realize you drill and hole and cut some threads but.. Do you put a bolt with some sort of rubber piece on the end?
