Wanting to learn to wheelie?
« on: June 12, 2009, 03:02:51 PM »
I have been riding for about 6 months now, and I am wanting to learn to ride wheelies and do burnouts, I know there irresponsible and foolish at times, but I just need to know that I can do them. If anyone can offer me advice to start out with I would really appreciate it. Thanks

squeeze front brake hard as you can...give it decent amount of throttle...pop clutch.... your tire is going to spin..

2nd gear...around 8-9k rpm, let off the throttle completely, then get back into it as soon as you let it off, HARD. don't grip the bars too tight or your wheel won't come up striaght. just be relaxed about it. always cover your back brake, start small, and wear you gear. most importantly, do it somewhere safe and you can only hurt yourself.

well as your probably gonna find out this isnt a good question to be asking here for you will get ripped, but if you just want to learn how to balance once the wheel is of the ground just do first gear about 8-9k and roll into the trottle pretty good DONT just punch it the wheel will lift pretty much and then just roll back off the throttle. Practice that for AWHILE before doing clutch wheelies. there are also vids on youtube that show you try that.

ok guys let the flaming begin!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, shit just do it somewhere when no one is around.  No one would have told me not to do wheelies when I first started riding, but just be safe, small steps.

Once I just at Mcdonald's when I was like 18 or 19.  I was out on my gixxer trying to do wheelies.  I had grease on my throttle hand.  I set it down and my hand slipped I just missed hitting my friend on his bike and I had the front brake on in first gear doing a rolling burnout along a curb.  Stuff can go wrong pretty quick.

Anyways I would suggest a damper as well if you don't have one stock.

Dampners definitely help with the front wheel control when you come back down...

How not to do a burn out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNin0ATI6Zg repost
I would do my first one with lots of room or an unmovable object directly in front.
Try power wheelies first, full throttle to redline should do it. first or second or both ( in third gear it to fast for the street for me)

Both of those vids were f-ing awesome! IMO burnouts are a waste of tire. They serve no purpose. As for the OP, if you want to do wheelies, try uponone.com or stuntlife.com. This is kind of a bad site to be looking for that kind of info. Just try to stay away from traffic.
