Bodywork Recommendations?
« on: December 22, 2003, 12:28:40 AM »
Hi:

I'm new to the forum. Just picked a new 2003 for track days. I'm an old 2 stroker and have an NSR250 and a TZ250 that I've ridden for some time. Anyway,  I want to replace the stock  CBR bodywork with some track stuff and was looking for suggestions. Any opinions on who has the best stuff? Best prices? etc.  Any input would be appreciated.

Jeff, the main guy here races and uses MD body work.  He loves the stuff and the prices sound great.

Here's the linky.

Depending on the color of the bike you couold be able to sell the plastics on here dirt cheap, or at least that's what we are hoping for hehe. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the group!

Thanks, everyone. I ordered a set from MDR today. $590 for a complete set including shipping. Can't beat that with a stick. And Matt told me they had reworked their mold so the fitment is now correct for stock head pipes. No more toasted lowers.

More questions.

Matt from MDR has also suggested that I use an aftermarket fairing stay. Any opinions on this? Why will it work better than the stock stays? Do all the attachment points for the MDR bodywork align correctly with the stock bracketry? Etc, etc. Thanks again.

Aftermarket fairing-stays have replaceable "arms" to them, so in a crash, they bend/break and replace.  OEM fairing stays are a 1 snap use...

I use OEM, and always carry a spare.  It would likely be cheaper in the long run to have an after market model, but since I had the OEM one and picked up a spare slightly dinged used one for $20, that's the route I've chosen...
