2006 CBR600RR versus 2006 CBR1000RR

Allright, hope this doesnt get me  booted from the group. 
I currently own a 2006 CBR600RR which Ive put about 4000 miles on since September, I love IT!!!!
I have a friend with a 2006 CBR1000RR which he has gingerly ridden since about July and it has around 500 miles on it. He already had some sharp chrome frame sliders, two brothers slip on, integrated led tailight/turn signals, cat eye turn signals up front, and a smoked windshield. He is in a pinch and will sell in to me for $10,600. The bike lives in his living room and probably has not been out in the weather for more than about 20 hours total. I doubt its ever even been wet!
I just wanted to get some feeling from you fine folks.
1) If you were in my position, would you sell your beloved 600 and buy the 1000?
2) If you would not, why not?

No, I would stick with the 600.

Can you out ride the 600 now?   Yeah thats what I thought, so do you think you are ready for a 1000. The 600 is a great bike and unless you just want that decal on the back that says 1000rr there is not reason to get it. There is reason not to though, simple, your not ready, and really know one on the streets even needs a 1000, we dont even need the 600. They put out more than enough power.

I dont need to. Its just an 'opportunity' that has arisen. The 1000 will be 10 bucks a month cheaper for the notes. I was planning on riding my 600 for a couple more years then trading it in for a 1000. I would like to get my wife to start riding with me and I thought that it would be better for the bike if I rode 2 up with the 1000 versus doing it with the 600. I spend most of my time riding back and forth to work on the highway so I thought that the fuel economy would be better due to higher horsepower, lower revs to maintain the same speed etc... I agree with your angle. NO I can not outride the 600 now, probably will never be able to unless I get lucky and go spend a couple years in florida around a track. All this to say its not a necessity- just an opportunity, and being the person I am , I thought I would consult the wisdom of the people here before I even start seriously considering it at all.

You need to look at your requirements though. Riding two-up is definitely better on a 1000 because you`ll overheat the poor 600 with anything more than 2 stoplights....
The 1000 is CHEAPER you say?? I`d be sold already if I hadn`t started work on setting up the 600 to my liking.
If you are a track rider, you`d already know that the 1000rr is for the expert class ONLY, in which case you wouldn`t be asking this question.
I personally believe the 1000rr is a better STREETbike, if only for the fact that it`s motor is torquier for two-up and commuting with less revs. On the other hand, you`ll want to push your boundaries in a while(all motorcyclists do) -and when you make a mistake- the bike won`t hurt you until about 230km/h. And by that time it`ll hurt you BIG.
600 is easier and more rewarding
1000 is torquier but needs restraint of an expert rider to literally stay alive on the street. But it`s cheaper.
I`d be buying the 1000 if I was in that position, but you may be a different rider to me with different requirements.

I own both and if and when the time comes that I have to pick one, I will be keeping my 600. Like the other guys said, I will NEVER be able to outride my 600. I had the 1000 first and traded my Hayabusa in on the 600. Never looked back either. I have owned a shitload of Hondas over the years. They all had their strengths and weaknesses. Except my 2006 cbr 600rr. She is a perfect machine. Power,stability,engineering,appearance........... Damn! I gotta go take the cover off her and take another look

I wouldn't buy it unless he had the spare parts left over from him fucking up that beautiful bike, so I could put it back to stock.

This is an aspect I have not investigated yet.

Is this for real? I see the gixer dicks riding around with their anemic sisters all the time on 600's and 750's why couldnt my 600 handle it?

If your passenger is not holding one when you leave the light you could leave her right there on the pavement. So a 600 does fine with 2 up. You can save gas on your 600 by changing the rear sprocket but you will lose power, so I guess I would not do that.

Okay.I will try to explain how I feel the bikes are different. I know some of you level headed guys are going to scold me for the way I ride on the street but I deserve it................
The differences to me are :
                                           The 600 actually feels like it has a more aggressive stance to me. It  definately sits a little taller in the saddle. It turns in quicker. It does not have a problem with wheel spin if I get a little too giddy with the throttle exiting a corner. I can throw it around on a windey road a lot easier than I can with my 1000. It is only a few pound lighter but feels a shitload lighter when manuevering at low speed in close quarters. I can accelerate very aggressively with my 600 without immediately going on my ass. It will lift the the front end even with my fat ass on it but my 1000 is way more powerful at low rpm and I have to be very conscious of my rate of acceleration or I will be picking little rocks out of my asshole. The 1000 rides better on bumpy surfaces and is more comfortable on long rides but I don't do a lot of long rides anyway. If I feel like going out by myself and acting like an asshole ,I take the 1000. If I am riding with my wife and /or kid,I take the 600. Some times we act like assholes on the 600's anyway. What can I say?
  The 1000 is an awesome machine with way too much power like all the litre bikes out there. Lot of fun when retarded fast is all you are looking for. For a balance of speed,agility,balance,fun, you just can't beat the 600. That's why I say if I had to pick one, I would have to go with the 600. Just my opinion and I could be wrong

Wow 2old, that was enlightening. You make it sound as if the 600 is much more all around user friendly, like if you wanted to go hit the curves you would take the 600, the 1000 is way too much for all but the seasoned pro on the track AND in most cases on the street. Thank you sir!

Riding the 600rr like a grandma is not what it was made for, and certainly doesn`t have the torque for coping with 2 people without going over 10,000 rpm at least. Take offs require at least 10,000 rpm to not lag the engine and to keep a smooth stable ride.
A 50cc scooter would ride fine 2-up by your standards

Now you're just writing like a fucking retard...I've NEVER had to rev over 10,000 fucking RPM to start off from a stop while riding two up, nor have I mentioned the 600cc bike is a better 2 up bike than a 1000 ...Have you ever ridden two up on the RR or just haven't found a girl yet to do it with you yet? Oh yea...your bike is a RACE bike...not suppose to be on the road because that's not what the manufacturer intended the bike to be...pure race baby, the manufacturers fucked up by putting on a passenger pillion and rear pegs...let's tell them to stop putting head/tail lights and turn signals on these track beasts...

Maybe you should go hang out on some race only message board then if you feel so strongly about this track only bike of yours...I mean ours...
