Fret I`m sure your passengers must be exhilarated!
Avoiding the powerband on the 600RR, ESPECIALLY two-up is testament to your type of riding. Maybe the 1000RR would suit your car-like needs too?? 8)

...Have you ever ridden two up on the RR or just haven't found a girl yet to do it with you yet?
I`d rather ride the girl than have the girl ride my bike...

let's tell them to stop putting head/tail lights and turn signals on these track beasts...
Why is it that we are not recommending the 1000RR again? ???

I went from an '03 600RR to a '06 1000RR and haven't regretted it. From a driveability standpoint on the street I have found the 1000 much easier to ride due to more low end torque compared to the 600. Of course as the saying goes, "With great power comes great responsibility", the 1000 will bite you in the ass a lot quicker if you are greedy with the throttle.

Best advice I can think of is if the guy with the 1000 is a friend of yours ask him if you can take it for a ride so you can decide for yourself.

And like hairbag said $10,600 is way to much. New '06 1000RR's are going for $9800.

Cheers and good luck with your decision.

Dude did kind of a dumb thing and had all the extras installed at the purchase and financed it all at once (slip on, extended warranty etc), but I will definitely see if I can negotiate the price down closer to 9,000 given that I like it once I spend a little time with it.
Cherry as in mint or as in cherry red. And if cherry red, wine cherry, wild cherry, black cherry, or mint cherry? Actually do you have some mint tires in minty green, or mint & chip?  ;D

But if you`re going to ride the bike slowly, why take it in the first place? What is the logic in taking a person on the back that makes it steer slow and ruin the power to weight with twice as much weight? You may as well have a different bike(or a CAR) altogether if that is the type of riding you do. The manufacturers make a selling point of high redlines for a reason on 600cc supersport bikes. They`re made to go fast- I guess my riding objectives are a little higher than "wind in your hair" hippy talk.
Fret just annoyed me when he said my point of the bike needing revs to not bog the engine was invalid. Does nobody here like accelleration or something ??? :P
Oh, and just so were straight, I don`t ride on the street any more BECAUSE it is a dodgy streetbike once you`ve experienced it on a racetrack in it`s element... 8)

That to me is more proof that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about and should pretty much STFU...it's also evidence that you've never ridden 2 up on the 600RR...if you feather the clutch the bike will not bog down; in fact, I have a challenge for you...get a male passenger, because a female might be difficult for you to get and put him on the back...rev to 10,000 rpm every time you stop for your take-offs and see what kind of steering and weight distribution problems you end up with...you don't want to scare the shit out of your passengers, because that causes big problems for the operator...but why am I telling you Oz, you're the latest, greatest track only rider who feels sport bikes should have never been built to ride on the street.

Tell me Oz...other than to make up for lack of riding skills, why did you have to mod the shit out of your RR to make it a "track worthy" motorcycle? Why wasn't it fully prepped and ready for the track from the factory?

How do you explain this:

"There but for the grace of God go I"

Se what you started Grady. This is all your god damn fault. Now Fret haits Oz, Oz haits all street sport bike riders and it's all fu&%ked up here in CBR land. You should apoligize to everyone.

Fret that bike is a 1000cc, the exact reason why i recommended he buy it for 2-up(because it`s better than the 600rr...).
Keith Code would have something to say about what causes steering and weight distrubution problems, as doing what you said(and think is "bad") is what ELIMINATES instability. Further validating what I said about needing to rev the bike for accelleration, and at low street speeds will cause the bike to run very hot indeed.
You can feather the clutch at low revs all you like, but it still doesn`t make it a good 2-up bike :-*
