Tighten clutch & throttle cables?
« on: August 09, 2005, 11:33:09 AM »
Can someone explain to me on how to tighten up my throttle and clutch?

There seems to be a lot more slack before engagement/response from both clutch and throttle.  I do see a few screws for the clutch and throttle, but I just wanted to ask before I did something stupid.

ps.  I did a search, but my browser just hangs when I hit the search button!
Align -> Brake -> Turn in ->  Accelerate.

Clutch just loosen the big round lock nut and twist counter clock wise till it has just a little free play. As for the throttle the bottom cable has two nuts one is the lock closest to the handle and the other is the adjuster. Loosen the nut and then loosen the adjuster then replace the nut and test. Always test, especially with the throttle. You donít want it too tight as it might mess up the idle.†

RTFM...

This information is all in the manual, including recommended slack allowances.

You do NOT want your clutch cable tight or you'll be replacing your clutch.  Throttle?  I run mine quite tight, but not enough to increase RPMs.
Jesus would have seen my blinker and let me in you dick!

Also tighten the throttle while the front wheel is pointed straight, the cable actually has a longer reach whe on full left lock and could make cornering difficult in some situations :thumb: :thumb:

HI there MY bike is new and I had to adjust the throttle at the grip it was too loose and caused problems starting. Works great now. ;D
