Stock clamp for midpipe/headers question..
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:37:52 PM »
I put a two brothers slip on my bike but when i took the clamp to put it back on i noticed
it wasnt quite the right size slightly to big because the stock exhaust flairs out right at the bottom
so im like 1/4 of an inch to big. Has anyone had the same problem? and also do i need the wire gasket
thing in there or is that only when the stock pipe is on?

The clamp should still be able to tighten down for you as far as the gasket you dont need it

Yeah I need a smaller clamp I talked to two brothers
and they said it should've came with a smaller one but I
bought the pipe used so I didn't get one. But its only 9
Bucks for one. And heat shields you don't need right?

If your exhaust has carbon fiber coating, you should be alright. Dont think you will need a heat shield. I have a Hyper-Flo exhaust on mine and I removed my heat shield. No biggy, my passengers ride on it with no discomfort either.

Yeah i might throw the heat shield by my rear brake set so my leg doesnt get hot. And on my other two bikes i didnt have a heat shield in the tail and it never melted so im hoping im alright. One was carbon fiber two brothers and one was aluminum two brothers so we'll see. if i notice my brake light getting a little melted ill throw it back on. Thanks for the help guys.

if you've got carbon fiber exhaust, you can put your hand on it right after riding, so it certainly won't heat up your seat, let alone melt any plastics.

LOL Well you should put something for the leg because that for sure is not going to be carbon fiber and when that piping starts glowing red after a little riding, you do not want your leg anywhere near it.
